Dan Rowe wanted hunting season off this year, and fishing season after that.
The 64-year-old flooring consultant retired recently after 33 years in the business. Rowe worked for United Carpet on Birch Avenue in 100 Mile House and Baron Floors before that, doing installations before moving into the store in 1996.
The best part of his job was working with people, he says.
“I enjoy the public. Quite a few people came in to say, 'happy retirement’. You get to know them and become friends. I have a lot of friends I ice fish with from meeting them in here.”
Gold-panning, a trip across Canada, and an Alaska tour are on Rowe's to-do list now. The things he wanted to do, but never had time for.
“It's nice to be retired. You get tired after a while. I'm lucky the knees are still good.”
