The Watch Lake & Green Lake 35th Annual Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8, hosted at the Watch Lake Lodge. Entry forms and steak dinner tickets are available at the Eddy’s Bar & Grill, Tall Timbers Resort, Donex, Lone Butte Sporting Goods and Watch Lake Lodge.
Derby entry forms are $15 for adults and $10 for children under 16. Dinner tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children under 10. The pancake breakfast to start each day from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., then the concession will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
There will be a refreshment garden open on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The BBQ steak dinner with all the trimmings is on Saturday at 6 p.m. Steak dinner tickets are available when you purchase your entry form (recommended) or get them on site from 10 a.m. Saturday until they are gone. Participants can fish either Watch Lake or Green Lake. The prize for the largest fish overall from each lake, either day, is $500 cash per lake. The second largest fish overall from each lake, each day, is $250 cash per lake. There will be prizes for both under 16 and over 16, as well as, many other prizes in various categories and a daily 50/50 draw.
The ceremony for awards, draws and prizes will be held on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. You must be present at the award ceremony to receive the prizes. This event is hosted by the Watch Lake Lodge and the Watch Lake-Green Lake Community Association, with the proceeds going to the Watch Lake Community Hall Operating Fund. July Gymkhana Event
Highlight this event on your calendar. The Watch Lake-Green Lake Community Association is pleased to announce that the Gymkhana will be held on Saturday, July 12. It is the longest-running gymkhana in British Columbia. The gates open at 10 a.m. and the events start at noon. Everyone is welcome. Admission is $2.
This is a horse and rider sporting event which includes barrel racing, keyhole, musical tires, and baton racing. The gymkhana will be held at the grounds just west of the Little Horse Lodge. There will be a concession serving mouth-watering hamburgers and hot dogs as well as pop, water, coffee, chocolate bars and potato chips. There is also a refreshment garden to quench the adults' thirst. The gymkhana is a lot of fun for both competitors and the public, so bring a good hat, sunscreen, and your camera. We hope to see you all there.

If you would like to rent the Watch Lake Community Hall for receptions like weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties, get-togethers, meetings, and other activities, please contact Joni Guenther at 250-456-7330 or myself at 250-395-9082. They will gladly book the days you require for that special day.

Watch Lake-North Green Lake VFD meets two to three times a month. The next two practices will be on Tuesday, June 10 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to noon. New volunteers are always welcome. If you can find the time, come and join.
Watch Lake-Green Lake Community Association's next meeting will be on Wednesday, June 11, at the Watch Lake Community Hall. Social at 7 p.m. with the meeting commencing at 7:30 p.m. There will be no meetings in July or August.
