Premier and SPCA waste money

To the editor:

This is an open letter to Premier Christy Clark and the SPCA.

The premier generously gave the SPCA $100,000 of our tax dollars to assist in digging up the mass grave of the sled dogs [destroyed after the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver]. What do they think they will find - the dogs in cute little pine boxes with name tags and a description of how they died?

Get real; it will be a mass of mixed up, decomposing hair, guts, and bones with a ton of dirt on top.

What will they find that will lead to cruelty charges being laid?  The SPCA states it will cost at least $200,000 to dig them up. After one year, the only thing [they will learn] for sure is the dogs are dead and rotten. Why waste the money?

The next time individuals donate to the SPCA, they should ask where their money is going.

With the child poverty at its highest and the world food supply at its lowest, the condition of our schools deteriorating, our hospitals with long wait times, our roads falling apart, our farmers and ranchers barely making ends meet to put food on our tables, I think the premier could have spent our tax dollars in a much better way.
