Hundreds of people enjoyed Interlakes Community Centre’s (ICC) annual Christmas Fair on a chilly Nov. 12, such that all 30 vendors were set up inside the hall, making for some difficulty in maneuvering!
While preserves were in short supply, and chocolates non-existent, there was a wonderful array of baking, including that of Twisted Sisters Baking. Goodies galore, including pies, were available from the three local residents, and saw great traffic. Hilde Eisenmann brought the writer’s favourite, her scrumptious twisted loaves with hazelnut/marzipan filling.
Michelle Willick of Diamond Art Gifts displayed a multitude of her varied and colourful works of art while young brothers, Kenny and Johnny Malm, showed off their own and their grandmother’s creations.
It was good to see Karma Sohn and Erica Lemak, of ICC’s Creative Kids program, who offered myriad delightful masterpieces created by all their “kids.”
Many visitors stopped by the tearoom to enjoy the delectable goodies and a warming cup of coffee.
The door prize gift basket was won by Mr. Chris Mills of 108 Mile.
Condolences
Many friends were saddened to learn of Ted Kerr’s Oct. 9 passing. Also sadly, the information came too late to get his Nov. 11 Celebration of Life into my column. We, who did not know in time, still wish to send our deepest sympathy to Barb and Starr, and all their younger family members.
A great many Mahood Lake Corridor residents were sorry to learn of the passing of rancher Alan Furrer, who really had been here “forever.” His father, Victor, arrived in 1913, and his union with Martha in 1928 produced four children, Al being the only boy.
It was probably 2021 when Al was in our yard rounding up the black cows he was safeguarding for the Cunningham Ranch after that ranch lost structures/fencing to a wildfire. And, over the years, I had many conversations with him and Margaretha regarding the huge cost of losing one little calf to a careless driver. He will be missed.
Al was laid to rest at 100 Mile Cemetery on November 18.
Sincere sympathy is extended to Al’s family and friends.
Line Dancing
For those who are wondering, Sheridan Lake Line Dancers’ leader, Lynn Gerwing, tells me she is hoping to restart line-dancing classes at ICC in January! Stay tuned!

As anticipated, MSCC’s Christmas Dinner sold out in under an hour on Nov. 18. MSCC directors are generously going to host and serve the dinner so that all 50 spaces went to residents/guests.
