To the editor:
I was a friend of Lydia and Alois Riethmann, the former owners of Rainbow Island, which is now called Heritage Island.
I had the opportunity to spend many hours with them on the island clearing wonderful trails from fallen trees, making firewood for the little cozy cabin, collecting mushrooms, or just hiking and cross-country skiing.
The island is a real treasure for outdoor fans and habitat for many kinds of wildlife; we even discovered a bear cave and an eagle's nest.
Therefore, I'm really grateful Julian Kenney proposed the land swap to the government. When the island becomes Crown land, it will be a great and priceless asset to the whole community.
People who are against the proposed land swap and use wrong data as an argument are not friends, but they're enemies of Bridge Lake.
For all those reasons, I, as Bridge Lake B&B owner and former Friends of Bridge Lake member, strongly support the land swap no matter what.
