Merry Christmas!
Dear reader, whoever you are and whatever you have done, I would like to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas, on behalf of the Members of “Christ The King Evangelical Lutheran Church” of 100 Mile House, BC.
Christmas is a very joyous time for all people. In this world of ours, we experience a lot of turmoil. The news we get from around the world brings us much sorrow caused by human selfishness, anger, fear, pride, envy and desire, as well as sickness and natural disasters.
It seems many people ask: “If there is a God, why doesn’t He do something?
The answer is, that God has done something. Something very wonderful! He sent His Son into the world, to the world including all people, men and women, adults, teenagers, children, all races and colours, highly intelligent or simple. And His Son was sent to be the Saviour of all.
God had promised a Saviour long ago, in the garden of Eden, as a result of Adam and Eve’s sin, which was the cause of all the disruption and turmoil visited upon the earth. And God gave this baby the name JESUS, because He would save His people from their sin. That is what Christmas is all about! God sending His Son into our world to redeem us from all sin, even from the power of Death and the Devil, and all the sorrow and turmoil in the world.
Especially, each Christmas, we remember that God has not forgotten us. Jesus has come to give Himself for us, that we might live with Him forever in His glorious Kingdom. What a wondrous sign and proof we have that the maker of all things loves us and did not even withhold His son from us, but gave Him for us that we may be with Him forever.
And so we say to all of you, MERRY CHRISTMAS! From Christ the King Evangelical Lutheran Church!
