Editor,

In reaction to Misha Mustaqeem's article about time change (in the Nov. 14 edition of the simplymastery).

Everyone is entitled to their opinion so here is mine. Why would anyone celebrate changing time? Especially to going back to the dark afternoons. Yes it disrupts all circadian rhythms, our dog could never get used to the change in her eating times and as far as the old thing about it being better for the farmers, I  was brought up on a farm and I do believe that the cattle, sheep and pigs were just as confused as the dogs and cats were.

How do we get serotonin when it is dark by 4:00 p.m. and most people don't get home from work until long after that? Yes, human health is affected as our winter is already more than six months long and people are not getting the sunlight their bodies need. It is not the same as taking Vitamin C pills.

Yes, I groan when we have to change all the many electric clocks and the vehicles, but it is only because we are going back OFF Daylight Saving time. It is a known fact that sunshine is one of the best things for our bodies. It is not DST that disrupts the circadian rhythm, but the changing back and forth twice a year.

Let's just leave it on DST and have more daylight at the end of the day, when we can enjoy it. Instead of when everyone is getting up and ready for their day, usually inside. Of course, there are more accidents after going off DST---It is then suddenly dark an hour early when people are going home after a long day.

I do agree with all those people who want to do away with the time change, but not to lose the extra hour of daylight in the afternoon!! Hopefully the 'disaster” will end with staying on Daylight Saving Time next Fall.

Sincerely,

Jan Baker
