The Bridge Lake Fair’s 2025 printed entry booklet is now available at the following venues: Bridge Lake Store, Sheridan Market, The Country Pedlar, Interlakes Market, High Ground Cafe, Lone Butte Store. In 100 Mile House, it is available at: Crafters’ Market, Creative Magic, Donex, Home Hardware, 100 Mile Feed & Ranch and Pharmasave. The booklet is also available online on BLF’s Facebook page.
To correct from my last column: The Baking with Maple class is Section A, #35 (not #46); and one of the $25 gift certificates donated by The Sugar Shack is for its prize. Their second $25 gift certificate was donated to BLF’s Silent Auction.
Bridge Lake Stampede
The 74th Bridge Lake Stampede is July 5 at the Stampede Grounds (just off Highway 24 at Bridge Lake Business Route). Slack usually takes place in the morning, and the main fearsome riders’ competition starts at noon. This year, food trucks will be on site! Admission costs: Adults, $20; Seniors, $15; Children aged five to 12, $10; and free for those aged under five. Note that admission fees include free camping.
In the evening, the Bridge Lake Community Club hosts an outdoor rodeo dance in the beer garden.
Interlakes Volunteer Fire Department Society (IVFD)
IVFD Garage Sale is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the Interlakes Rodeo Grounds, East Sheridan Lake Road, off Highway 24. Cash only, and please bring your own bags. Buy a raffle ticket, and enjoy a bake sale and concessions.
If you have goods to donate, contact Dale at 250-593-4302 to arrange for drop-off before June 30.
Interlakes Community Club (ICC)
ICC needs volunteers to: clear garbage from the trail, weed eat, maintain outhouses, cater/clean up for special events, and with monthly Sunday afternoon bingos! If you have a little time to spare, Crista would love to hear from you at 250-593-4869.
Interestingly, June’s bingo GBall pot was one dollar higher than the highest ever paid out at Deka’s bingo, which was $2,415 in September 2019. Deka’s bingo was next held in December 2019, which turned out to be the very last bingo ever held at Deka!
Deka Lake & District Ratepayers Association (DLDRA)
The DLDRA’s summer fishing derby is August 3! Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for children aged 12 and under. Weigh in at Deka Access #6 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. This will be followed, at 7598 Clearview Road, by the Annual General Meeting at 3 p.m.; prizes with a total value of $7,000 at 4 p.m.; and dinner at 5 p.m. your choice of a bowl of chilli or a chilli dog! Plan to make a day of it!
Sulphourous Lake artists come to Parkside
Make note that our famous artistes, Siana Kelly and her husband Bryan Austerberry, are co-creating a show of their superb artworks, quilling and pencil art respectively, at Parkside Art Gallery. The Opening Reception is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., June 28, and it runs until July 19. It will be well worth a visit.
