Bridge Lake Fair Association’s Annual General Meeting is at 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 13 at Interlakes Community Centre (ICC.) Everyone is welcome to attend, especially those who are interested in helping with the 2024 Fair from Aug. 17-18, 2024. Everyone who entered or attended the 2023 Fair is a paid (voting) member.

Condolences

Interlakers were saddened to learn of Eric Paddison’s Oct. 11 passing at the age of 80. A resident for over 50 years, Eric was well-known and liked. Deepest sympathy is extended to his partner, Lou; his family and many friends. His Celebration of Life is being held at ICC from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 5.

Interlakes suffered a huge loss on Oct. 9 when Jim Zailo passed away unexpectedly. Then president of Roe Lake & District Recreation Commission and Interlakes Community Centre Society, Jim was well-known, admired and loved. Always there to help out, Jim’s dedication to the community will be sadly and deeply missed. Sincere condolences are extended to his partner, Wendy; his family and myriad friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at ICC from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 17.

Breads Workshop

Interlakes Cattlebelles are hosting a basic “old-fashioned” Breads Workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 4 at ICC. The cost is $40 for non-members, $30 for members, and includes lunch. Register with Pat at 250-706-7340, or Pam at 604-378-5929; and e-transfer to interlakescattlebelles@gmail.com

Fire Safety

Please ensure that your chimney is cleaned with the proper-sized brush made of the proper material—preferably by a registered “chimney sweep.” Some years back, a chimney fire occurred in a chimney that had just been cleaned—but it was not clean, due to the homeowner using an incorrect brush. Also check/replace all smoke alarm batteries.

Mountain Spruce Community Centre (MSCC)

MSCC’s Ladies Night presents “Mind, Body & Soul” at 6.30pm, Nov. 9. Enjoy tarot card reading, a psychic, chakra reading & balancing, yoga nidra, head massages, essential oils and an introduction to Life Waves. Admission costs $18; RSVP mandatory.

Private Tarot Card, or Psychic (intuitive, aura or past life) Readings are available at $25 each but MUST be booked in advance.

Deka Lake & District Ratepayers’ Association advises that the buoys have been removed from the channel for the winter. Be very careful if you venture up to Big Deka. They will be reinstalled ahead of the May 2024 long weekend.
