In loving memory ~

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Bill Todhunter, who passed away on February 12, 2025, at the age of 85, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Bill, known for his strength, resilience, and kind heart, passed away peacefully at 5:40 p.m., surrounded by his loved ones.

Bill was born in Fernie, BC to parents Nina and Gib Todhunter and raised in his childhood playground of Elko / Jaffery in the East Kootenays of British Columbia.

Bill lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He met the love of his life, Maxine on September 20, 1957 and the two were married on September 28, 1958 where they settled in Cranbrook, BC and started raising their family before eventually settling in Langley BC.

In April 1984, they moved to the 100 Mile area where they decided that this was going to be their final destination because of friendly people and the quality of life and lifestyle of the area provide. Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose infectious smile and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone he met. He had a passion for sports and was an active member of the 100 Mile House Curling Club. He also had a passion for golf, softball, and enjoyed camping, hunting and other outdoor activities the region provided. He pursued his sports and activities with enthusiasm and commitment and instilled that same passion and commitment for sports in his wife and children.

Bill faced his illness with incredible bravery, never allowing it to define him, and remained a beacon of positivity until the end. His strength and courage through this challenging time were a testament to the character of the man he was—loving, supportive, and determined.

Bill is survived by his wife of 66 years, Maxine, who will miss him dearly, his sons, Bill, Sheldon (Alexsandra) Owen (Karen) and daughter, Cherilea, 11 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, sister Mary (Dave), Sister In Law, Merle, many nieces and nephews, as well as members that remain in the family circle, Christine (Dan), Sandra, and Rikki.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John, four nephews Brendon, Clayton, Kevin, and Donovan, and niece Melody.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. Bill's spirit will live on through the many lives he touched. He will be forever missed but never forgotten. There were no strangers in his life; only friends he had not yet met.

An open service will be held to honor Bill's life and his legacy on February 22nd at Hillside Community Church, 11am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the British Columbia Lung Association or BC Cancer Foundation in Bill's memory.
