December 1, 1944 - October 19, 2020
Thomas James Nicholson of 100 Mile quietly passed away in the Kamloops Hospital on October 19, 2020 after many years of painful and prolonged illness.
He was born in Hamilton, Ontario on December 1, 1944 to Victor James Nicholson and Marjorie Gladys Crellin who predeceased him. Tom leaves behind his wife, Marjorie (Riddoch), and six sisters: Susan, Pat, Judy, Sherry, Vicky, all of ON, and Kim of BC.
Also his three sons: Kevin (Surrey, BC), Scott (Calgary, AB) and Kurt (Prince George, BC) and one step-daughter: Desiree Hamilton (Vancouver, BC). Also five grandsons: Dustin, Hugh, Topher, Shea and Louie, all of BC.
Tom worked at various jobs in both Ontario and BC. He was a trained mechanic. He worked for many years as a Union Negotiator for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He loved that job because he could not only support union workers in their jobs but also could negotiate adeptly with lawyers and doctors and with the workers' bosses on contracts for the workers behalf.
He worked as Business Agent for the woodworkers union here in 100 Mile House. Tom also worked in a couple of garages in town and at the 108 Resort and Conference Centre. He found the people in 100 Mile House amazingly friendly, honest and kind.
He will be remembered as having a wonderful sense of humour and especially for remembering everyone's names.
He was a good friend to many and was kind and generous. He enjoyed living in 100 Mile House for the last 23 years and serving as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will be missed by many.
A special mention to all the nurses at the hospitals in 100 Mile, Williams Lake and Kamloops who took care of him in his last days and to his doctor, Gerald Lubbe.
