December 30, 1932 - February 28, 2011
Mom lost her hard-fought battle with cancer.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Gertrude Julsrud, sister Laura Downey, brother Ivin Julsrud, and daughter Lee Morrison.
She is survived by her husband George, daughter Verna, and son Gord.
Mom was born into a ranching family in Lone Butte, B.C. where she spent many years on her favourite horse, Lightning, chasing the cows and helping her brother guide hunters. She married Glen Pettigrew and had two daughters: Verna (Gary) Desjardine and Lee (Bill) Morrison. In 1969, she married George Schramm and had one son, Gord (Toni) Schramm.
Mom loved the outdoors in the sunshine, especially when horseback riding with her many dear horsey friends over the years. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially liked teaching her granddaughter, Brittany, to ride a horse.
Ruth is also survived by her five grandchildren: Glen (Sandi) Desjardine, Byron Desjardine, Billy (Donna) Morrison, Robert (Kim) Morrison, and Brittany Schramm. In addition, she is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Hunter, Haylee, Alyssa, and Kayden, and included in her loving family are Dylan, Josh, and Gavin.
The family wishes to extend our warmest thanks to the staff and volunteers at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home. Donations in Ruth’s memory, may be made to the Home or the SPCA.
There will be no service as that was her request.
