Norman C. Boulanger, 79, a long-time Sheridan Lake resident, died December 17, 2011 at the 100 Mile Hospital.
Norm was born in Seattle, Washington on May 29, 1932. He first came to the Cariboo in 1943 when his parents purchased property at Sheridan Lake. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Norm worked in theatre for his professional career, teaching technical theatre at the college level and working at the Seattle Repertory Theatre. In 1986, Norm retired to Sheridan Lake.
Active in retirement, he pursued his passions of snowmobiling and ATVing. He was a founding member of the Quad Squad of South Cariboo and the Interlakes Snowmobile Club and mapped and marked over 200 miles of back-country trails in the Interlakes area. Some of these areas he had explored on horseback in his youth. Norm was also a member and past president of the Interlakes Lions and a member of the 100 Mile House Library Board.
Norm is survived by his daughters Jennifer (Bruce) of Washington, DC; Kirstie Noreen (David) Lopez Island, WA; and Cariboo “daughter” Christine Hadden (Vern) of 100 Mile House; granddaughters Julia, Alifaire, and Annie, “grandsons” Ian and Alex.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 100 Mile Hospice Society. A celebration of Norm’s life will be held in the summer.
