Doreen was the second daughter of four children born to Ross and Susan Cruickshank in Saskatchewan.
When Doreen was 13, she set out to B.C. where she worked as a camp cook’s helper at Timothy Lake. The Cariboo was a magical place for Doreen and she decided to spend the rest of her life here.
She leaves behind her loving family: husband Chuck Kyler; sons Wade (Yvonne) Smith, Brian (Sarah) Smith; grandchildren Jake, Kevin, Cody and Zachary; sister Iola (Bruce) Anderson; brothers Larry Cruickshank and JC (Heather) Cruickshank; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Doreen’s biggest joy in life was spending time with her family and cooking fantastic meals. Doreen loved the outdoors, all birds, forest creatures big and small and spending time with her beloved Chuck exploring the Cariboo wilderness, who was always happy to stop the car to let Doreen examine the smallest of forest flowers.
Friends could always find a big smile and warm welcome at her door. Doreen will be remembered by her family for how she enjoyed the simply joys in life, family and nature.
A Memorial Tea will be held at 100 Mile United Church, Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 1:30 p.m.
