November 13, 1923 - April 4, 2012

Diane’s long and wonderful life came to an end on April 4, 2012 in 100 Mile District General Hospital. By her side were her beloved daughter, Tamara, grandson Jacob, and doctor and friend, Joanne Lapin.

Born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan to Walter and Stella Lacktin, Diane came to Vancouver, BC at the age of nineteen to begin work in the Burrard shipyards. There, she and Wilfred Law met, and began a life together. They moved to Forest Grove in 1967, and have resided in the area since.

Diane was a wonderful homemaker, gardener, singer, and crochet enthusiast, and loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was a proud member of the Forest Grove Women’s Institute for many years. In recent years, her time spent at the United Church and Tuesday afternoons at Pioneer Haven playing crib with friends and brother-in-law, Dave Law, brought her much joy. She was renowned for her delicious pies, rice pudding, and wonderful sense of humour.

She is predeceased by beloved husband Wilfred, parents Walter and Stella, stepfather William Karchie, sister Violet Carey and brother-in-law Dan Carey, nephew Ronald Carey, and great-nephew Grant Law.

Diane is survived by her family, son Garry and daughter-in-law Lana Law, daughter Wendy and son-in-law John McNeil, daughter Tamara and son-in-law Scott Dawson, grandchildren Micah and Julie Law, Brianna and Paul Carey, Nadaya and Steven Tresierra, and Jacob Dawson, great-grandchildren Caden and Quinten Carey, Wilfred Law, Dominic Tresierra, and coming soon, her first great-granddaughter. She deeply loved her brother-in-law Dave, nieces and nephews Bruce and Debbie, Judith and Gerry, Walter and Marilyn, Susan and Steve, Kathleen and George, Dan and Colleen, Dee and Penny, and their families, cousins Ken and Annette and family, and many more relatives, too numerous to mention. As well, she had many friends, each of whom she cherished. Not to be excluded from this long list of loved ones is Diane’s ever-faithful companion, Gemini Law.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Joanne Lapin, Dr. Bruce Nicolson, Dr. Neetha Vithalal, Jono Hessler, Jack and Fern Witty, and the nursing staff at Royal Inland Hospital 6th floor North surgical ward.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 100 Mile United Church. A celebration for Diane will be held on Saturday, June 2nd, at 2:00 p.m.
