In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Derwyn Dew on Jan. 4, 2022 in 100 Mile House, BC.
Over his 87 years, he brought so many of us love, caring and joy, and he has left this world a better place for his time in it. We are strengthened by the fond memories he has left behind. Derwyn is survived by his loving wife of almost 65 years, Flo, and his devoted children Pat (Mark), Don (Christina) and Steve (Leslie), his brothers Bob (Stu) and Jim (Millie) and sister, Marie. Derwyn was predeceased by his parents, Eleanor and Charles Dew, brother Bennett, and his sister Eileen. The greatest joy of his life were his grandchildren Aaron, Galen, Jacqueline, Connor, Eric and Willow.
Born in 1934 in Nanton, AB, Derwyn grew up on the family farm in the Fraser Valley and graduated from high school in Langley where he also met the love of his life. He and Flo married in 1957, and he began his 43 year career with Finning Tractor, completing his heavy duty mechanics apprenticeship. His career took him to Williams Lake, Terrace and Prince George before he retired at the 108 Mile Ranch. He leaves many good friends amongst his FTE colleagues and neighbours.
An avid outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed hiking, canoeing, fishing, road trips and camping, and his family and grandchildren fondly remember the many trips we took together into the wilds and across the country. His greatest passion, however, was woodworking, and the entire family and many friends cherish the works of art that he created with love and wood.
While his generous and amiable spirit were ultimately overtaken by cancer, his family will always remember the happy days of his last Christmas and birthday just shortly before his passing. No service will be held at Derwyn's request. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate your donations in support of either MS Society of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society.
