David Thomas Pollard, 84, of Lone Butte, B.C., passed away peacefully on Friday, June 30th at the 100 Mile House Hospital. He was born on May 21, 1939, to Don and Rose Pollard in New Westminster, B.C.
Dave earned a Bachelor's of Education from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Education from the University of Oregon. Throughout his 33-year career in the Burnaby School District, he excelled as a teacher and school principal, leaving a lasting impact on his students and colleagues alike.
Dave spent many weekends and holidays at the family cabin at Green Lake with his loved ones exploring winding backroads and fishing serene lakes of the Cariboo. Dave was an avid woodworker, spending many hours crafting beautiful furniture and children's toys. He also had a passion for music, joining the New Westminster concert band at age 11 and later becoming a conductor for the beginner and intermediate bands. Dave loved to travel and spent time in Europe, Japan, Australia, across Canada and the Western United States, among other places.
Dave is survived by his wife Lisa, with whom he celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary this past December, daughter Christine (Ian) Wilson, son Jonathan, granddaughters Megan Potts and Kristi (Taylor) Haynes, great-grandson Joey Haynes, and his brother John (Eve), as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at The 100 Mile Hospital who cared for Dave during his time there.
