In Loving Memory ~
Bob Grotke, 81, passed away peacefully in his home at Deka Lake on August 1, 2023, with his children present.
Bob was predeceased by his wife Pat and is survived by his loving sons Todd and Chris (Alicia), and his beloved granddaughter Shakoda.
Bob was born on January 23, 1942, in Kenora, Ontario, to Henry and Claire Grotke and brother to Glenn and Linda. Bob moved to BC in the mid-1960s with his bride Pat to start what was a fulfilling life and career, working at Macmillan Bloedel for over 36 years.
Bob's passion for the outdoors, which included fishing and hunting, drove the decision to buy a piece of land at Deka Lake in the early 1970s, where he began building a family cabin after reading a news article saying "wheelbarrows full of fish".
In the early 2000s, Bob's dream to retire at the lake came true, where he had been a permanent resident for over 20 years. Bob was known for his desire to provide for his family, his love of animals, and his kind and calm demeanor. He was loved by many family members and friends and will be sadly missed. Bye for now.
A celebration of life will take place at Interlakes Community Centre, 7592 Highway 24, Lone Butte, on Monday, September 18, at 1 p.m.
