In loving memory ~
We are heartbroken to announce the death of our mother on June 10, ending a months-long struggle with aggressive multiple myeloma. Betsy was born in High River, Alberta and was raised in the Clive/Lacombe area. She married David Hoff in 1964 and they lived in Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary and Whitehorse before settling in Fort Nelson to raise their 3 children in a household filled with love and laughter. After Dave died in 1992, she married Ross Herring and had another 30 years of love and adventure with him. They lived in Courtenay and Fanny Bay for several years before moving to 100 Mile House in 2005. Betsy volunteered at 108 Mile Elementary School, Red Cross and Emergency Support Services for many years. She was a small woman with a big heart, and she was a fierce advocate for her children. As our families grew with children and stepchildren and grandchildren, she welcomed all the new additions with open arms. She endured her illness with strength and grace and did not complain during her suffering. Ross took amazing care of her during her decline and showed us what true devotion looks like. We would like to thank all the healthcare providers who took part in her care.
Betsy is survived by her husband Ross, sister Peggy (Grant), children Craige (Sebastiana), Laura (Andy) & Carianne (Duane), stepdaughter Sarah, grandchildren Ryan, Drake, Chezzerrai, David, Ama, Lucia, Erin, Emily, Emma & Mason, great-grandchildren Scarlett, Lyla & Amelia, the extended Herring family and various cousins and friends. She was our anchor and we will drift without her.
