It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bessie Higgins at the age of 94, in Quesnel, B.C. on November 3, 2011.
Left behind to mourn her passing are husband Jack Higgins, daughter Betty (Lyall) Lucas, son Henry (Judy) Rosenau, sisters Vivian (Toody) Shirran of 100 Mile House and Stella (Tink) Rosenau of Quesnel. Also left to mourn are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
Bessie was born in Weiser, Idaho USA, on March 3, 1917. Her family moved to the Cariboo when she was just six years old. As pioneers of the Canim Lake area, the sisters grew up in a harsh environment, setting traplines and skinning squirrels.
Grandma Beck will always be remembered for her warm smile, quiet ways and her passion for quilting. Her legacy was giving those she cared for most, one of these coveted quilts.
Cremation arrangements by Clayton’s Funeral Home in Quesnel - there will be no service, at her request.
