In loving memory ~
We are heartbroken to share that Allan Ronald Forcier, artist, naturalist, family man, and rockhound extraordinaire, passed away at his home in 103 Mile on May 7, 2024, at age 77. Allan was profoundly loved and is survived by many who will honor his legacy by embracing kindness, creativity, humor, and hard work.
Born in New Westminster, BC, to Pat and Ferdie Forcier. Allan grew up in Oliver, BC, with his siblings Richard, Julie, Francis, and Linda. He met his wife, Veronica Rose (Roni), in high school in Oliver. They married in 1967 and moved to Nelson, BC, where Allan earned a Diploma from the Kootenay School of Art in 1970.
In 1971 the couple moved into a rustic cabin in Quesnel, BC, where they started their family with two sons and a daughter, before moving to 100 Mile House in 1981. Ten years after the youngest child was born, along came their second daughter. A beautiful surprise to the entire family! They purchased a home in 103 Mile and a lakefront property at Canim Lake, where they built a cabin that became a family haven. This provided the family with endless opportunities to enjoy the beauty of nature. While all of Allan and Roni's children would eventually move away from the 100 Mile House area, the love of family and the beauty of the Cariboo brought them back!
A man of many talents, Allan worked various jobs throughout his life, including as a fruit picker, logger, artist, bartender, and draftsperson. His love for the natural world was evident in his daily life, from going for walks, biking, and skiing to rockhounding, and fishing. Allan was 'inspired [by the beauty of] the very earth itself'. Allan was a true adventurer, storyteller and loved everything about the grit of the universe (aka rocks). He also loved the Cariboo and it's fascinating history.
Allan is survived by his wife Roni; son Christian David (Jolene) and their children Remington, Ripley, Redding, Victor, and Vivian; son Anthony Aaron (Kandice) and their children James and Gregor; daughters Alana-Rose (Monty and his children/grandchildren) and Rachel Alexandra (Lawrence); Allan's siblings; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. In our sadness, we are consoled by the extraordinary gift of his life and our precious memories.
In lieu of flowers, consider going on an adventure or curling up with a good book to embrace life's beauty. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 7, 2024, from noon to 2pm at the 100 Community Hall, 265 Birch Ave, 100 Mile House, BC V0K 2E0.
