It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Alexander Kirkwood.
Alex was predeceased by Irene, his wife of 56 years, and is survived by children Lloyd (Shirley), Ken (Miguel), Jim (Karen), Joanne (Mel) and Barry as well as his brother Ray (Irene) and sister Marie, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Alex and Irene married in 1952 and raised their children in Vancouver. What a life: a WW2 veteran, an entrepreneur, a licensed pilot, First Aid Instructor; a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather. With a passion for music and storytelling he accomplished and will be remembered for so much. In later years, Irene and Alex relocated to Bridge Lake and built their dream home, which they opened to visitors from around the world, operating a bed and breakfast. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Valley View Funeral Home on Feb. 26 at 2:00p.m.
