1938-2011

Alex grew up on a ranch in Horsefly but he had dreams that soared far above the farmyard. He wanted to be a pilot, and though he got his license, he built himself a reputation as the most reliable lowbedder in the Cariboo instead.

He could build, fix and drive anything that floated, flew or rolled.

He built a home in 1960, the year he married his true love, and it’s been filled with the sounds of friends and family ever since.

He worked hard every day of his life, but every spare moment was set aside for his three kids, and later, his granddaughters.

He scratched little holes in the wrapping paper of his Christmas presents, trying to read the boxes underneath when he thought no one was looking.

He didn’t always do things the way everyone else did, but he made it up and his way was always better, every detail always perfect. He built things to last and he started with his family.

Alex is survived by the love of his life, his other half, Sharron. He leaves behind three children and their spouses: Steve and Debra, Marty and John, and Greg and Sheryl; as well as four granddaughters and their other halves: Kendall and Brian, Dezarae and Regan, Sarina, and Chantelle.

He is predeceased by his eldest brother Leonard and survived by older siblings Gilbert and Lorine. He also leaves behind close friend and brother-in-law Garry and wife Lynne as well as countless other family, extended family and close friends.

A celebration of life will be held for Alex at 2 p.m., August 20, 2011 at Forest Grove Hall.
