There will be a Public Hearing on Thursday, May 15th, 2025, starting at 7:00pm in the Shaw Auditorium at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre at 80 Commercial Street, Nanaimo, BC, to consider a proposed covenant amendment.
All persons who believe their interest in the property is affected by the proposed amendment will be given the opportunity to be heard. Members of the public can participate in-person or call in to speak to an agenda item during the live-streamed meeting. Speaker times will be limited to 5 minutes.
A copy of the proposed covenant amendment and supporting information are available for inspection from May 1st to May 15th, 2025, either in-person between 8:00am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday (excluding statutory holidays), at the City of Nanaimo Service and Resource Centre at 411 Dunsmuir Street, or online at www.nanaimo.ca/publichearing.

The purpose of the covenant amendment is to amend existing Section 219 covenants on the subject property to allow a 6-storey multi-family residential development with a purpose-built market rental component. The proposed amendment will result in a change of the combined number of dwelling units in Buildings 2 and 3 from 266 to 296 units.

Following the close of a Public Hearing, no further submissions from the public can be accepted by members of Council. This is necessary to ensure a fair Public Hearing process and provide a reasonable opportunity for people to respond at the Public Hearing.
