Water levels being watched

Interior Roads Ltd. operations manager Ken Kelly says his local road crews are monitoring the rising water levels near area roads and bridges.

"We increased the frequency of our patrols, and we go by past experience with areas that have a history of flooding."

Kelly says the areas being closely watched in the South Cariboo include Red Creek at Mahood Lake Road and several along Canim-Hendrix Lake Road, but he adds the road maintenance company monitors all areas where waterways run near roadways.

Outside Interior Roads' business hours, an answering service ensures a 24-hour/seven-days a week response. Kelly encourages people to call 250-395-2117 if they have concerns regarding roads, highways or bridges.

"If there's anything that comes in from the public, we're out there and on it right now."
