The School District 27 (SD27) school-of-choice application deadlines are on Feb. 15 for secondary schools, and March 15 for elementary schools.

The School District 27 (SD27) school-of-choice application deadlines are on Feb. 15 for secondary schools, and March 15 for elementary schools.

Parents or guardians who would like their child to attend a school that is not in their catchment area can obtain a school-of-choice application from their local school or at the SD27 office or on its website at www.sd27.bc.ca.

According to the school-of-choice policy, there are a number of mitigating factors governing cross-boundary applications, including class size and

composition requirements as set out in Bill 33, and ability of the school to provide an

appropriate educational program for the student without adversely impacting the learning environment for the other students.

Students now attending a school of choice outside their catchment area and wishing to transfer back to their catchment area should notify the school board by the same deadlines.

Under normal circumstances and subject to available

space, students will attend a secondary school based on the elementary school they attended in Grade 7.

Spaces allotted in schools shall not exceed 95 per cent of capacity in the receiving school in order to allow for the enrolment of students newly arrived in the catchment area.

Parents assume responsibility for transportation, or any additional costs incurred by the school of choice registration.
