RCMP deal with vehicle incidents and an assault at a local business

100 Mile RCMP responded to 50 calls for service between March 15 and 21.

Prohibited driving

On March 19, a 100 Mile House RCMP officer initiated a stop of a vehicle travelling with only one functioning headlight.

The female driver was identified and it was determined she did not hold a valid driver's licence. The vehicle was impounded for seven days and she was given a court date in 100 Mile House for May 2011 and charged with driving while prohibited.

Dopey driver

On March 18, police were performing stationary speed enforcement, and a vehicle was located travelling at 84 km/h in a posted 50 km/h speed zone.

A southbound Pontiac Sunfire was stopped and the occupants spoken to. During the investigation, the officer noted the driver and passenger were displaying signs of impairment from recent drug use.

The driver was issued a speeding ticket, the vehicle was impounded for seven days and the driver's licence was suspended for 24 hours.

Drugs were also seized.

Assault charges

On March 16, RCMP received a complaint of an assault at a local business in 100 Mile.

Through investigation, a local male was charged with assault and is scheduled to appear in court in 100 Mile House in May 2011.

Stolen vehicle

On March 16, police recovered a stolen vehicle located in the Lone Butte area.

The vehicle was still running when discovered and appeared to have become stuck before being abandoned. The full-sized Ford pickup was determined to have been stolen out of Clearwater on March 12.

The Williams Lake Identification section examined the vehicle, and the investigation is ongoing.
