The 100 Mile House RCMP stopped a male on a bike who claimed to be a member of RCMP on Monday, June 2.
This incident was one of 130 calls to service the RCMP responded to between May 27 to June 3, according to Sgt. Brian Lamb. Lamb said the man had identified himself as a member of the RCMP to a member of the public.
Following the report, members of the B.C. Highway Patrol located and stopped the bike on Alder Avenue. Lamb noted officers observed impairment as well as open liquor, and issued the male a breath demand for alcohol testing. The male was subsequently issued an immediate roadside prohibition from driving for 90 days, and the bike was impounded for 30 days.
RCMP responded to several break and enters
The 100 Mile House RCMP responded to three break and enters throughout the week.
The first break and enter report was received by the RCMP on May 31, which had occurred at a business on the 500 block of Alder Avenue. A business had been entered where a sum of cash had been taken. RCMP believe that the incident occurred either overnight or in the early morning.
Lamb said the second break and enter was reported on June 1, which had occurred at a property on the 4000 block of Highway 97. The premises at the location were entered and a sum of cash was taken, along with keys to a vehicle. The vehicle at the location was subsequently taken.
The vehicle is a 2001 Ford Ranger with B.C. license plate JY4608. The vehicle has not been recovered. Lamb said officers believe the incident occurred overnight.
The third break and enter was reported to the RCMP on the same day as the second one. Lamb said it happened to a shed located on a property on the 6000 block of Horse Lake Road. Two men are said to have been observed wearing all black with black ski masks while kicking in the door.
RCMP attended and did not locate the suspects. A weed eater, a boat motor and various tools were taken from the shed. Lamb said the incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on the date of the report.
RCMP responded to two thefts
The 100 Mile House RCMP responded to two thefts throughout the week.
The first theft report had been received by the RCMP on May 29, which occurred on a property on the 3000 block of Highway 97. RCMP said that auto parts from a vehicle had been taken. CCTV images have been obtained that show a Ford F350 truck on the property and a suspect. The incident occurred at 7:20 a.m. on May 29.
Lamb said the second theft was reported on June 2, which was of a vehicle taken from the 200 block of Birch Avenue. The vehicle was taken between 10:45 a.m. and 11:50 a.m. and had large dogs inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Shortly afterwards, the vehicle was observed near the intersection of Blackstock Road, where two males were observed dropping off the dogs before leaving the area. The dogs had been returned to their owner. RCMP describe the vehicle as a grey 2011 Mazda 2 with B.C. license plate TR7 17D. The vehicle has not been recovered.
Missing ATV driver found with no injuries but disoriented
RCMP received a report of a missing person on May 28. Lamb said an adult male who had been in the area with an ATV had become separated from other members of his group and could not be located after several hours of searching. RCMP activated South Cariboo Search and Rescue and attended the area, where they found the missing person uninjured away from his ATV after he had gotten disoriented in a large cut block.
Male arrested for violating curfew after being caught failing to stop at a stop sign
On June 1, RCMP were conducting patrols on Cedar Avenue and had observed a vehicle that had not stopped at a stop sign.
After stopping the vehicle, the RCMP determined the occupant of the vehicle to be breaching a release order in relation to a curfew violation. The adult male was arrested and held for court, and has since been remanded into custody pending a future court date.
Stolen vehicle found after being spotted by RCMP patrols
On May 31, RCMP were conducting patrols in the area of Exeter Station Road, where they found a 2007 BMW 323i had been located on the side of the road with no license plates and glass damage. The RCMP, after locating the owner of the vehicle, had determined it to be stolen from a parking lot on Cedar Avenue a year earlier, but it had not been reported.
Vehicle occupant parked on Wrangler Way given prohibition from driving for alcohol consumption
On June 1, RCMP had been conducting patrols on Wrangler Way, where they observed a vehicle parked in the area.
RCMP observed alcohol consumption after speaking with the occupant of the vehicle in the driver's seat. They conducted a breath test with an approved screening device, which the occupant failed. The driver was given an immediate roadside prohibition from driving for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
