MVI fatality near Lac la Hache

woman dies a accident scene at lac la hache

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle incident on Highway 97 north of Wright Station Road in Lac la Hache just before 3 p.m. on July 4.

Lac la Hache Volunteer Fire Department chief Terry Murphy says the northbound 2001 Dodge Caravan had crossed over the southbound lane, went over the edge and down a steep embankment for approximately 10 metres and overturned.

He notes his department responded to the callout and BC Ambulance Service, 100 Mile House Fire Rescue, 100 Mile House RCMP Cariboo Regional Traffic Services Unit and the coroner also attended the scene.

RCMP A/Cpl. Tim Lyons says the female driver was deceased at the scene, as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

An investigation is underway by police and the B.C. Coroners Service, and Lyons adds alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the cause of the accident.
