CCTV footage led to the arrest of a man after catching him red-handed in a break-and-enter theft in Salmon Arm.

At 3:30 a.m. on June 12, RCMP got a call from a complainant watching live CCTV footage of a man breaking into a cube van, stealing tools and leaving on foot with a bag in tow.

"The complainant was able to provide police with a photo of the suspect... assisting police in locating the suspect nearby towing a hockey bag," Const. Andrew Hodges said in a media release.

The man was arrested for possession of stolen property and theft, while the stolen tools were recovered and returned to the rightful owner.

Salmon Arm RCMP got charges approved against 34-year-old Ryan Charron on one count possession of property obtained by crime, and one count of theft. Charron was held for a bail hearing and remanded in custody.
