The Cariboo Regional District has rescinded its boil water notice on the Lac La Hache water system.

The boil water notice has been in place since Nov. 15 and was imposed out of what the CRD called "an abundance of caution" following the connection of the system to a new water source. After taking several samples Interior Health detected no traces of coliform bacteria and approved the lifting of the advisory.

As a result, those who rely on the Lac La Hache water system can resume their normal water usage as there is no risk to public health.

At this time, the Lac La Hache drinking water system remains unchlorinated. The CRD is in the final stages of implementing a chlorination system. Once completed the water supply will be chlorinated regularly to eliminate potentially harmful bacteria.
