Nineteen firefighters and first responders from the Interlakes Volunteer Fire Department responded to a stubborn mobile home blaze on North Bridge Lake Road on Jan. 15.
Fire Chief Doug Townsend says the callout came in at 6:45 p.m., and when he arrived at the scene four minutes later, the crawl space was "fully involved."
Noting they took three engines and three tenders to the scene, Townsend said the tenders pulled water from Bridge Lake and two engines shuttled it from the lake to the site to feed a third engine that had all hoses pouring water on the structure.
The fire chief says they had water on the fire throughout the night, with one corner being particularly difficult to extinguish.
Townsend says they fought the fire for close to 12 hours.
They had to return around 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 16 because flames rekindled in the same corner, so they spent another five hours extinguishing the flames completely.
