Canada will be choosing its next Prime Minister April 28, 2025.

Independent candidate and lawyer Kenneth Thomson is on the ballot for the Cariboo-Prince George riding.

Thomson's website encourages voters to support independent candidates over political parties.

"We need to stop voting for political parties which target their policies to serve the interests of key voting blocks such as Toronto and Montreal," his website states. "They do not necessarily represent the interests of the people in their community and this is especially true for smaller and rural communities."

It goes on to say between elections, the opposition parties should do more than make arguments about the last election.

Thomson states he is open to feedback on any of the issues he discussed on his website and believes elected officials should be listening to feedback from their communities.

Thomson joins incumbent Conservative Todd Doherty, Liberal Clinton Emslie, New Democrat Angie Bonazzo, Green candidate Jodie Capling, Christian Heritage Party candidate Jake Wiens and the People's Party's Rudy Sans.

Election day is April 28, advance polls are open April 18 to April 21 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. People can check register, check their information and find out more at Elections.ca.
