Incidents involving vehicles keep police busy

100 Mile RCMP responded to 54 complaints and calls for service during the past week.

 

Uninsured driving

On Feb. 20, 100 Mile Traffic Service conducted a vehicle check of a blue Dodge pickup truck.

The licence information showed that the insurance was not in effect. The insurance decal was determined to be reported as stolen.

The driver was issued a violation ticket for driving without insurance. Charges of possession of stolen property are being recommended to Crown against a 46-year-old resident of 100 Mile House.

 

Belligerent passenger

On Feb. 18, 100 Mile RCMP responded to a complaint from the Greyhound Bus Lines that an intoxicated female passenger had assaulted another bus passenger.

The suspect female had boarded the bus in Prince George and was swearing and talking loudly on the bus. When confronted and asked to stop, she began yelling at the other passengers. When the bus stopped, the suspect female got off the bus and kicked the victim and punched her in the head.

The female suspect was located nearby and arrested. She was lodged in cells until sober and released on conditions later that day.

Charges of assault, uttering threats and obstruction have been recommended to Crown against a 39-year-old female resident of Prince George.

 

No vehicle, no drive

On Feb. 17, 100 Mile RCMP responded to a complaint of a vehicle in the snow bank on Jens Street in 100 Mile House.

Upon attendance, the driver of the vehicle was identified. He showed symptoms of alcohol consumption and failed the approved screening device.

The driver met the criteria for the immediate roadside prohibition. His licence was seized for 30 days and the vehicle was impounded for 90 days.

 

Wonky hotwire

On Feb. 15, unknown culprits attempted to steal a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had been parked overnight in behind the residence on Taylor Avenue in 100 Mile House.

The steering column had been damaged. Nothing appeared to have been taken from the vehicle.

Semi stopped, Ranger rocked

On Feb. 14, 100 Mile RCMP responded to a collision between a Ford Ranger pickup and a semi-trailer unit.

The driver of the Ford Ranger was travelling south on Highway 97 at Canim-Hendrix Road. The semi-trailer unit was stationary at the pullout.

The Ford Ranger driver misjudged the lane and ran into the back of the parked unit. No injuries occurred as a result of this collision.

No charges have been laid at this time; however, the investigation is continuing.
