BARNETT NAMED TO CABINET
Newly re-elected Cariboo Chilcotin Liberal MLA Donna Barnett was renamed to cabinet as Minister of State for Rural Economic Development as of June 8. The provincial Legislature is slated to start June 22, however, it’s not clear whether the Liberal minority government will be able to hold on as government.
CRD SEEKS PUBLIC APPROVAL
A Cariboo Regional District bylaw to establish a South Cariboo Cemeteries Contribution Service within Electoral Areas G, H and L is proceeding to an alternative approval process. Through this, the CRD will establish the contribution service unless at least 10 per cent of electors in the aforementioned electoral areas sign an elector response form opposing the adoption of the bylaw by 4 p.m. on July 31, 2017. If over 10 per cent of electors submit their forms, the process will move to an official vote. Response forms can be downloaded from cariboord.ca or picked up at any CRD office starting June 22.
