District of 100 Mile House working to fix leak on Birch Avenue

District staff have reduced Birch Avenue to single plan alternating traffic during the repair

Birch Avenue is reduced to one lane alternating traffic on Monday evening as the District of 100 Mile House works to address a water service leak.

District staff have been working since just before noon on Monday, April 21, to address a water service leak outside of Tyler's Paint & Decor and Cariboo Buds. This leak has shut off water for several businesses from Third Street to Second Street on Birch Avenue, including Tyler's Paint & Deco, Cariboo Buds and Donex Pharmacy and Department Store.

Staff are using excavators to dig up parts of the sidewalk to access the leak and drain it using a hydrovac truck. Todd Conway, the district's director of community services, said that if all goes well, the leak should be fixed by the evening.

The District of 100 Mile House will put out more information on Tuesday, April 22, if more work is required to fix the issue.
