The District of 100 Mile House looked close to home when it came time to appoint a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

Director of Financial Administration Tammy Boulanger was appointed to the office of CAO prior to the June 13 regular meeting of council. Roy Scott, the current CAO, will be staying on in a consulting position.

“The CAO role will bring many challenges and opportunities for growth,” Boulanger said. “I was extremely humbled by the job opportunity and appreciate all of the support I have received.”

Boulanger has been with the district for 20 years. She has completed programs through Dalhousie University and is currently working towards the Local Government Administration Diploma with Capilano University.

“Moving from a finance-focussed role to the CAO, one of the most important items is that you have a solid understanding of where your municipality’s biggest expenses and biggest risks are, and also a respect that there is no such thing as government-funded, everything is taxpayer-funded,” she said.

With Boulanger moving into the position of CAO, Sheena Elias, who has been with the district for four years, has been appointed as director of financial administration.

Elias is looking forward to new challenges and learning opportunities in her new position. “I am very thankful for the opportunity of my new position.”

She said the District is a very rewarding place to work. “We have a great team of staff that work together very well.”

Boulanger agreed. “The best thing about working for the District of 100 Mile House is the people,” she said. “Serving the residents, mayor and council and working with a wonderful staff.”

The new appointments come into effect on July 1.
