After adopting a social media policy in June, the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) is now poised to launch its new Facebook page.
The Facebook page will be used primarily for informing residents about upcoming CRD events, meetings and projects, while providing another tool for residents to communicate with the CRD.
In June 2011, CRD directors adopted a comprehensive social media policy which specifically outlines how social media will be incorporated into its existing communications tool box.
This is the CRD's second foray into social media after using it extensively throughout the firestorms of 2010. With the overwhelming success and reception of the Emergency Operation Centre's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/CRDEmergencyOperations), the CRD will continue to maintain this site, as well as the main CRD Facebook page. To find them on Facebook, simply search for the Cariboo Region or the Cariboo Regional District.
