The Lone Butte-Horse Lake Community Association (LBHLCA) invites the community out to a good old-fashioned fair at Lone Butte Rocks on July 9.
The day will include old-fashioned kids’ and family games, face painting, and a selfie photo booth, said association president Heidi Meier in an email.
A wagon ride will be available for families wanting to travel from the community hall down to the fire hall, where the Lone Butte Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting an open house.
There will be a variety of activities taking place at Water Tower Park and the Alice Singleton House, courtesy of the Lone Butte Historical Association (LBHA).
There will be a garage sale, bake table and raffle ticket sales in the park. Also back again this year is the Lone Butte Fish and Wildlife Association shooting gallery, the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) demonstrations and Mark Allen will be providing entertainment throughout the day. The LBHA will be providing hamburger soup, bun and a beverage for $5.
“Come on out and join with us for a great family and fun day,” said LBHA secretary, Gayle Jones.
“The community hall will be hosting live entertainment on the Rotary stage all day. Entertainment includes Terra U and the Blue Wranglers, as well as rhythmic gymnastics, line dancing, and Tai Chi,” said Meier.
In the outfield, a variety of demonstrations will be taking place including dog agility, horse liberty and carriage driving.
Something new for 2023 will be a variety of food trucks to inspire your palate.
Due to a cut in funding on the organization’s gaming grant, the LBHLCA had to make a decision to cut back on activities this year or reach out to the community for financial assistance. As an executive, they chose to ask the community for business sponsorship.
“It’s been a raging success,” Meier said. “We’ve had an amazing response from businesses throughout the community.”
The members of the LBHLCA can’t wait to see everyone at Lone Butte Community Hall. The festivities get started at 10 a.m. and run till 3 p.m.
Anyone wanting to volunteer is asked to contact Heidi at 250-706-1476 or email lbhlca@gmail.com. Visit their new website — www.lonebuttecommunityhall.ca — for details on the association and what they offer.
