Counterfeit bills

A complaint was received about possible counterfeit $5 and $10 bills being put into circulation in the Interlakes area on Highway 24.

These bills are described as not having the metallic strip, missing marks where required and no face characteristics where required.

Merchants are reminded there are various types of counterfeit currency in circulation and they are asked to be vigilant when receiving cash.

The driver was determined to have consumed liquor, and an approved screening device was administered roadside. The result was a fail, and the driver met the criteria and was subsequently issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

He was also issued a violation ticket for driving contrary to restrictions.

Other patrol units responded to the area, and the suspect vehicle entered the parking lot of the Marmot Ridge Golf Course. The driver again attempted to avoid capture by driving over a dirt embankment.

The pickup was determined to be stolen out of Prince George and the vehicle plate was also stolen from another vehicle in Prince George. Charges of possession of stolen property, possession of break-in instruments and possession of a controlled drug have been recommended to Crown against a 30-year-old Prince George man.
