UPDATE: Power has largely been restored to 1,253 BC Hydro customers in the South Cariboo Friday morning.
However, according to the BC Hydro outage map, as of Friday, April 11 at 8:45 a.m. there are still a handful of smaller outages impacting an average of five to 10 customers each throughout the area that was without power on Thursday, April 10. The causes for most of these outages is listed as a tree across the lines or as under investigation.
ORIGINAL STORY: A tree down across B.C. Hydro lines has knocked power out for 1,253 customers on Thursday, April 10.
The outage comes amidst heavy winds blowing across the South Cariboo and was first reported at 2:40 p.m. Power is out north of Green Lake Road in the 93 Mile area, Lone Butte and across Highway 24 between Highway 97 and the Interlakes. B.C. Hydro currently has a crew assigned to fix the outage.
There are two additional smaller outages in the Interlakes area. One impacts 79 customers along Bridge Lake North Road south of Wilson Lake Road and north of Lee Road. The other impacts less than five customers in the 7600 block of North Bonaparte Road. The causes of both these incidents are under investigation and crews have been assigned to fix them.
