100 Mile House RCMP responded to 39 calls for service last week.
On Nov. 8, 2023, BC Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle on Highway 97 near 93 Mile House for speeding. The driver of the vehicle was found to be prohibited from driving. As a result, the driver was arrested, served a violation ticket for speeding, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. The driver was released on scene and will attend court at a later date.
On Nov. 8, 2023, RCMP were called to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 97 near Maze Lake Road. Police attended and determined that a southbound vehicle had crashed into a parked and unoccupied vehicle that was left abandoned in the curb lane.
BC EHS as well as 100 Mile Fire Rescue attended and removed the driver from the vehicle. The driver was transported by ambulance to hospital for further assessment. Injuries are believed to be non life-threatening.
The abandoned vehicle, a white 1996 Ford Aspire was reported as being stolen from a residence on the 3800 block of Dodge Road in Lac La Hache. It is believed the vehicle was taken sometime within the last few days leading up to the incident.
On Nov. 9, 2023, RCMP and BC Highway Patrol conducted a check stop on Highway 24 near Lone Butte. Several vehicles were stopped. Of note, a driver was found to be prohibited from driving and was subsequently arrested and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He was released at the scene for court date at a later date. Another driver was charged for having no insurance on their vehicle.
Also on Nov. 9 RCMP received a report of shots being fired on the 6000 block of Houseman Road. Police attended and determined a male had fired two shots from the outer doorway of the residence with a rifle.
It is not believed the male was targeting anything specific and no residences, property or persons were in the line of fire. The male was arrested without incident and held in custody. He was released the subsequent day and will attend court at a later date for careless use of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm. Several firearms were seized from the residence for public safety.
