100 Mile House RCMP conducted three separate search warrants from May 2 to May 8 in the South Cariboo.
Sgt. Trevor Medernach said the warrants were executed to target illicit drugs, firearms and stolen property. During the execution of these warrants RCMP seized 50 grams of cocaine, 75 grams of meth and a loaded firearm.
"In addition, we were also able to locate an individual who had been actively evading police and is suspected of a number of property offences throughout the area," Medernach said. "This person has been removed from the community and is in the care of the courts."
Medernach said charges are being sought on several other individuals who have been arrested in the course of these investigations. He noted the incidents are unrelated and that it just happened the investigations into these various cases all happened to come together around the same time. Medernach said these warrants were executed across the South Cariboo with around seven officers participating in each search.
These search warrants were made possible, Medernach said, partly by members of the public calling the RCMP.
"It's always good to be aware of what's going on in your area or your neighbourhood and we're always willing to listen to potential information," Medernach said. "We can't always act on it, but we're always willing to listen."
