100 Mile House RCMP arrested a man found sitting in a stolen vehicle on Horse Lake Road earlier this month.

This incident was one of 83 calls to service RCMP responded to since the beginning of March. Sgt. Brian Lamb said officers originally responded to a report of a suspicious person seen near a vehicle located on the 100 block of Horse Lake Road. On arrival, officers located a male sitting in a car whom they identified as having an outstanding arrest warrant for impaired driving.

"The male was arrested for the warrant. Upon further investigation, the vehicle was determined to have been stolen which was not yet known to the registered owner," Lamb said. "The male was additionally arrested for possession of stolen property."

Lamb said the suspect was held for a subsequent bail hearing and has since been released to attend court at a later date.

RCMP pull over erratic driver

RCMP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver driving erratically on Highway 97 south of 100 Mile House on March 5.

Officers patrolled the area and located the vehicle. After stopping the vehicle they talked with the driver who had symptoms of alcohol consumption.

"A breath test was conducted using an approved screening device," Lamb said. "The result was a fail."

Following the failure the driver was given an immediate roadside prohibition for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Check stop apprehends impaired driver

A check stop on Horse Lake Road was conducted by 100 Mile House RCMP on March 8.

During the check stop, Lamb said a vehicle was stopped by police. While talking with the driver RCMP suspected they had consumed alcohol. A breath test was issued that resulted in a fail.

Following the fail the driver was issued an immediate 90-day roadside prohibition from driving and their vehicle was impounded for 30 days. During the check stop, several other vehicles were stopped with RCMP also issuing a violation ticket to one motorist who had no insurance on their vehicle.

RCMP respond to rollover

On March 10, RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle rollover on Mahood Lake Road near Horse Lake Road.

Lamb said both police and EHS attended and found a vehicle on its side. Officers believe the vehicle had crossed over a bridge and is believed to have lost control before going off the road. Two occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital for undetermined but non-life-threatening injuries.

"Poor road conditions and poorly conditioned tires are believed to be contributing factors," Lamb remarked.
