The emergency room of the 100 Mile District General Hospital will be closed all day Monday, March 17.

Interior Health announced last night that ER services will be unavailable from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday. Patients needing emergency care can access these services at the Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake or at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.

Anyone who requires life-threatening emergency care such as chest pain, difficulty breathing or severe bleeding should always call 911 for transport to the nearest appropriate facility

If you are unsure whether an emergency room visit is warranted you can call HealthLink BC at 811, or visit www.HealthLinkBC.ca for non-emergency health information from nurses, dietitians and pharmacists 24 hours a day, seven days per week.

IH did not provide a reason for the closure. 100 Mile House's ER is normally open 24/7.
