One person is dead after an alleged assault in Fort St. John Tuesday evening (June 24).
Fort St. John RCMP say police received a report of an assault in the 9900-block of 99 Avenue around 6:42 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a news release Wednesday morning. When officers arrived, a person was found unresponsive.
The detachment's serious crime unit has taken over the investigation, and will be supported by the North District Major Crime Unit.
Police said Wednesday morning the area around the scene will be cordoned off "for a significant amount of time," while officer continue to gather evidence.
RCMP added no further information will be provided at this time.
