Qualicum Beach curlers have fun with sticks and stones

24 teams take part in fun bonspiel

Qualicum Beach Curling Club recently held its Sticks & Stones bonspiel.

It was a fun two-person curling game with different rules than the traditional four-person game. All curlers delivered using a stick instead of the traditional delivery from the hack. There is limited sweeping.

QBCC manager Bev Shaw said it’s a very popular game as they now have eight weekly leagues.

There were 24 teams that competed and three of the four winning teams were from Qualicum Beach. They are:

A Event: Van Sorensen and Bruce Campbell (Qualicum Beach);

B Event: Heather Kinley and Evelyn Nordin (Qualicum Beach);

C Event: Geoff Leney and Ebbe Lehmann (Qualicum Beach);

D Event: Richard Miller and Ken Calthorpe (Parksville).

For those wanting to join the club, registration is open for the winter session, from January to March. You can visit the club's website to register at https://qualicumcurling.ca/curl/winter-session-registration/
