Property tax notices are on the way to Saanich households, with payments due by July 2.

A five per cent penalty will be applied to any unpaid current taxes after the deadline, with another five per cent added to outstanding balances after Sept. 2.

The District of Saanich notes that unclaimed homeowner grants are considered unpaid and subject to penalty.

Due to a possible Canada Post labour disruption, residents are urged to use alternate payment methods to avoid late fees. These include online banking, a drop box at municipal hall, in-person payment, or mailing a cheque in advance. Credit card payments are not accepted.

The district encourages residents to sign up for MySaanich, an online portal that provides access to property tax, utility, dog licence and business licence accounts.

Residents can also enrol in a pre-authorized payment plan to begin prepaying 2026 property taxes.

Homeowner grant applications must be submitted directly to the province by the due date to avoid penalties. For more, visit gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant or call 1-888-355-2700. For full details and payment options, visit saanich.ca
