Election Day is on April 28, so get ready to vote.
People can vote in person or by mail as long as they are Canadian citizens, 18 years old on election day, and have proof of identity and address. Make sure to register through Elections Canada at elections.ca. Voters will receive a card in the mail showing their local polling station on election day and where they can vote on advance voting days.
Some polling stations will be open for advanced polling from April 18 to 21 and will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. These polling stations should be on voter's information cards. People can also vote early at Elections Canada offices (Oyster River Elementary School (Campbell River), Port McNeill Municipal Office, The Views at St. Joseph (Comox), and Town Centre Mall (Powell River)) before 6 p.m. on April 22.
Those who want to vote by mail can get a voting kit but must apply for one before 6 p.m. on April 22. The voting kit must be completed and received by Elections Canada on April 28.
Canadian Forces members can vote using any of the above options or by voting by special ballot at a military polling station set up at a Canadian Forces base or unit.
Unhoused people are also eligible to vote. They can do so by proving their address and identity. A Letter of Confirmation of Residence is needed and can be requested from administrators of shelters, soup kitchens, or community-based residential facilities. Voters can also declare their identity and address in writing and have someone who knows them vouch for them as long as said person is assigned to the same polling station. The voucher must also prove their own identity and address and can only vouch for one person.
