A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Westside Road Tuesday afternoon.
The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision in the 11000 block of Westside Road around 3:45 p.m. May 13. Police officers, ambulances and the local fire department responded.
An investigation determined the motorcycle was travelling north when it entered a speed wobble and crossed the centre line, colliding head-on with a pickup truck.
"Sadly, the motorcycle rider, a 57-year old Vernon man, was pronounced deceased at the scene," RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski told The Morning Star.
A member of the RCMP's Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstruction Service went to the scene and is assisting with the investigation.
Westside Road was closed for several hours and traffic was detoured while police conducted their investigation.
BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) responded with two ambulances with primary care paramedics, said Brian Twaites, BCEHS public information officer.
It's the third serious motorcycle crash and second fatality in the North Okanagan in less than a week.
On Thursday, May 8, a motorcyclist was killed after running into a dump truck from behind in Enderby.
The next day, a Vernon man was left with life-threatening injuries after crashing on his motorcycle on Highway 97 at the north end of Vernon, just past the overpass in the southbound lane.
